How to keep up with the trends

Certain wedding trends have become popular due to the change in mindset of couples in the newer generations, like how some brides do not wear heel under their gowns as it can't be seen anyway, they instead opt to wear comfortable shoes like sneakers. Trends come and go at a rapid pace, the trend you saw at the start of your wedding planning journey may be outdated by your actual wedding day, but don't worry, as long as you like the trend and have fun doing it, that's all that matters! Some of these trends may become timeless and a wedding tradition in the years in to come.

1) Glambot

You may be familiar with the Glambot as you've seen it on social media, it is a cool contraption that's been a hit on celebrity red carpets. For those that are not sure what a Glambot is, it is a robotic arm with a camera that swings around to capture those slow-mo, glam shots you see online. The videos are usually slowed down to give that glamarous effect of the celebrities flipping their hair and moving their gown in a dramatic fashion. In real life, the Glambot moves very fast and the whole process is completed in a few seconds.

Couples are now incorporating Glambots into weddings, the guests and the newlyweds can now feel like they are attending a red carpet event and live out their fantasy of being a celebrity. Guests can take turns getting their videos taken by the Glambot after getting dolled up for the wedding day and afterwards, they have a fun video as a memory of the wedding and to post on social media!

2) Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

Traditional rules around bridesmaid dresses have undergone a significant shift. It used to be that all bridesmaids wore the same color and style chosen by the bride, perhaps to ensure the bride stood out on her special day.

However, modern brides are rewriting these rules. While some still opt for a unified color that complements the wedding theme, many now allow their bridesmaids to choose their own dresses as long as they stick to the chosen color palette. This approach minimizes disagreements over dress styles and ensures that each bridesmaid feels comfortable and confident in what they wear. It's also a response to bridesmaids feeling unhappy about purchasing dresses they may not like or wear again.

Others take an even more flexible stance, giving their bridesmaids complete freedom to pick any dress that makes them happy, regardless of color or style cohesion with the rest of the party, white remains off-limits, naturally. This trend celebrates individuality and ensures that each member of the bridal party feels valued and beautiful in their own way, reflecting the diverse personalities that make weddings truly memorable occasions.

3) Tossing Of Flowers?

The tradition of tossing flowers has evolved significantly over the years. Traditionally, the bride would throw her bouquet over her shoulder to a group of single women, with the belief that whoever catches it will be the next to marry. However, this tradition has seen some pushback, as not everyone present may be looking to wed, and some find it uncomfortable.

To accommodate these sentiments, couples are reimagining the bouquet toss. Some invite all single guests, regardless of gender, to participate. Others have introduced separate tosses for the groom and his party. A newer trend involves tossing various items into the crowd, such as ang pows or soft toys, which serve as keepsakes for guests to cherish long after the festivities end. These adaptations celebrate inclusivity and ensure that everyone feels welcome to join in the fun of commemorating the special day.

4) Diposable Cameras

Since the comeback of diposable cameras a few years ago, it has become very popular even at weddings. The diposable camera gives that film retro vibe instead of how photos look like on our phones. Despite having a professional photographer capturing the couple's every move, there's often a gap in capturing candid moments and reactions from guests.

Couples are placing disposable cameras on each table or in baskets at the entrance, inviting guests to play photographer. This allows guests to have fun snapping candid shots of themselves, as well as unique angles of the bride and groom that the official photographer might miss.

This trend not only engages guests more deeply in the wedding festivities but also provides a source of entertainment. After the wedding, the couple can have the films developed, offering a delightful opportunity to relive moments and see the celebration through the eyes of their loved ones. It's a charming way to enhance the wedding experience and create lasting memories beyond what traditional photography can capture.

5) Embroidery

You may not notice this if you're at the wedding but you may have seen it on social media as it is a very tiny delicate detail, embroidery on the sleeves or veil. You may be thinking of those typical flower or pattern embriodery but brides have done a twist with it, they now embroider things like the date of the wedding or first date, or a special quote, or their name or initials, basically something that is meaniful to the couple.

This trend holds particular appeal for brides looking to preserve their veil as a cherished keepsake. Though not immediately visible to all, this personalized embroidery transforms the veil or gown into a one-of-a-kind piece that will be cherished long after the wedding day.
